Launder's Lane Progress

Margaret Mullane, Labour PPC for Dagenham & Rainham, has commented on meetings held last week which have been a step towards resolving the fires on Arnolds Field that have blighted the Rainham area for years.

Margaret said “I took part in the meeting at Havering Town Hall on Wednesday last week and attended the Rainham residents CRISIS meeting on Friday evening. From both these meetings it is clear that Havering Council has been working methodically on the issue since Jon Cruddas MP raised the problem of the ongoing fires.

The in depth report on the analysis of the soil samples from the bore holes and trenches across the site gives some clear recommendations on how to safely, effectively and comprehensively deal with the site and prevent fires and contaminants reaching the public.”

Margaret went on to say “Now the Council has these recommendations it will be possible to come up with the best solution. I am very pleased that the Council is being open and transparent and has committed to making all the reports and data available to local people. The next step will be to as quickly as possible get to that solution to protect the health of all residents of Rainham.”
